Will's First Sunday
The Rev. Will Peyton's first Sunday with us will be this Sunday, February 26. Please come and help us give Will a warm welcome! A reception will be held after the 10 a.m. service.
And remember to wear your name tag! This will help Will get to know us, and will help us get to know each other. If you need a name tag, please send a request to the church office This email address is being protected from spambots. Welcoming Events
Let’s welcome Will with the legendary St. Paul’s hospitality! Over the next few months we will be offering a variety of social events where parishioners will have an opportunity to meet and welcome Will. These will be offered at various times of day, hoping to have something to suit everyone’s schedule.
If you would like to attend one of these events, please sign up here, or contact This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. at the church office: alice.fitch@stpaulsmemorialchurch.org or 295-2156.
Let’s have a movable feast to celebrate and welcome our new rector!
Welcoming Newcomers
Practice radical welcome! We are seeing a lot of new faces these days at St. Paul's, and that is likely to continue after our new rector arrives. There are many ways to help a visitor feel welcome:
- Say hello!
- Invite them to coffee hour.
- Help them navigate the hymnal or our Eucharistic ritual.
- If there are children, suggest that they join the kids up front.
- Encourage them to fill out a pew card.
- Introduce them to the clergy after the service.
- Suggest that they come to Adult Forum or Godly Play.
- Introduce them to someone in their peer group.
- Show them where the nursery is (or the bathrooms!).
We're all partners in ministry, so keep an eye out for newcomers and help welcome them into this community!
Photo Directory
We continue to compile a photo directory to help our new rector learn our names and faces and we want your photos! We want individual photos of every person (children included). And we would also like to have a group photo from each family.
There are two different ways to submit a photo:
1.  Have a photo taken at one of our photo shoots
Have your picture taken at one of the “photo shoots” being held after the 8 a.m. and 10 a.m. services on Feb. 26. No need to make a reservation; just show up and we’ll take your picture.
2.  Submit photos electronically
Submit your photos electronically from a computer or cell phone by emailing an image attachment to photos@stpaulsmemorialchurch.org
The photos we have gathered to date will be posted in the parish hall each Sunday. If you are unhappy with the photo we have, simply have another picture taken.
Thank you!
Many thanks to the 40+ men, women, students, and children who swept, mopped, dusted, polished, and scrubbed during the St. Paul's Cleanup Day last weekend. Our building looks fantastic thanks to all of their hard work!  Special thanks to Jarrett Millard, Christie Thomas, and Kate Lichti who spearheaded the cleanup effort.
One Voice Chorus Concert
On Saturday, February 25, at 7 p.m., the One Voice Chorus Ensemble (Richmond, VA) will present a concert celebrating Black History Month. With music ranging from classical anthems to contemporary spirituals, as well as portions of Robert Ray’s “Gospel Mass,” this rich offering will have something to delight everyone. Founded in 2001, the One Voice Chorus is an interracial community chorus that promotes the work of racial reconciliation through music.
Bluegrass Mass
The 5:30 p.m. service on Sunday, February 26, will feature bluegrass music and the St. Paul's Bluegrass Band. As usual, dinner follows the Eucharist. Join us!
Shrove Tuesday Pancake Supper
Come one and all for a festive pancake supper on Tuesday, February 28, at 6 p.m., in the parish hall. The Youth Group will be in the kitchen and serving pancakes, baked apples, and sausage. A donation of $5 per person with a maximum of $20 per family is suggested. All proceeds will go to support the St. Paul's Youth Group in their summer immersion trip to Grace House on the Mountain in Wise, Virginia. Please come hungry and give generously!

Ashes to Go will begin at 9 a.m. Stop by for ashes or a blessing or just to chat!
Prayer Shawl Ministry

Wednesday Evening Lenten Supper Series
Beginning March 8 and continuing on the subsequent four Wednesdays through April 5, our regular 5:30 p.m. Evening Prayer service will be followed at 6:00 p.m. by a simple soup and salad supper (with something more kid-friendly for the younger set). The evening will continue with an all-ages program as we explore our journey through Lent and launch into a new era at St. Paul's with our 10th rector at the helm. Bring your family and/or friends and "Come and See!"
