Who is the nursery for?

In the nursery we care for children ages infant to 3 years old. There are classes in Sunday school for children 3 and up. We provide care during the 10:00 service, and will also keep children for adult ed. (Just remember to tell us when you drop off your child!)

2-3 year old class

With the exception of the summer time we have a class for 2-3 year olds. This class includes a short playtime at the beginning for the children to settle in, a story from the bible or highlighting a Christian value, and an appropriate craft or game. We study the same story or value in different ways for 4 Sundays in a row so that they have time to understand it. We also have a snack during our lesson. The class ends in time for children to join their parents for the Eucharist, but parents must come pick their children up from the nursery. 2-3 year olds are welcome to stay with us for the whole service, but many enjoy going to the service for a little while.

Enrollment in this class is flexible; if your child has just turned 2, and is not ready she or he may stay in the other nursery room, and try the class in a little while. Likewise if you would like your 3 year-old to stay in our class for a while before she or he goes up to the 3-4 year-old Sunday school class, we are happy to have them.

What do I need to bring?

Many parents choose to drop off their diaper bag in the nursery, but the nursery has diapers and wipes if you do not bring your own. For older kids, we will also provide a small snack of cookies and water. You may provide your child with a sippy-cup if you like. We do not have any bottles for infants, but are happy to feed infants from a bottle if you provide one.

We do go out on the playground so if it is cold make sure to leave us with your child’s jacket and if it is sunny you may want to have applied sunscreen.

What if my child is upset?

We are blessed with a staff that is experienced with working with children. We will do our best to soothe your child, and help them enjoy their time in the nursery. However, there are times when our best efforts do not work, for those times we provide your with a beeper to take to the service with you; if we need you to come back it will vibrate.

Hours

The nursery is open for the 10:00 Sunday service. Parents are welcome to bring their children as early as 9:45 so they can get settled before the service starts. Parents are welcome to come pick their children up to receive the Eucharist in church, but we are happy to have the children with us until the end of the service. We will also provide care for nursery age children during adult education, but please make sure to tell us if you plan to stay for it.
